Welcome To Keys To The Gym 
A major difference from when Dick recorded this is the number of talented three point shooters who can reward a passer looking for a player on the perimeter, not just focusing inside. What is still very pertinent is for the passer to know who is a good shot, who is not, and who only thinks he can shoot!
Hi Bill, all good points you make and Dena has a lot of great stuff on shot selection. Including to influence your teammates shot selection. I agree passer can be aware of putting there teammates of bad situations and also trying to make the most threatening pass, the one that will create the most stress on the D, but more than that stuff I think the great potential for influence lies in the daily conversation.
