Dena talked about Six Habits For Using Screens on Friday; move opposite, wait, wait more, come off shoulder to hip, look over the shoulder and read the defense, and catching the ball ready to attack. Here are some great examples of Ray Allen doing a lot of these things but particularly in these clips watch for habit number five: look over the shoulder and read the defense. Notice how he uses the screen and then reads the defender to make the most dangerous cut possible.
Dena talked about Six Habits For Using Screens on Friday. The first habit is move opposite. Dirk Nowitzki is a master this. And beyond moving opposite, he sets he defender up even more by slowing down and looking away, almost as if he’s out of the play . That is habit number two and three, waiting. When Dirk is waiting for a screen he does so in a manner where he almost lulls the defender to sleep, once the screen is set he burns that lulled defender. Watch him closely here.
